Dreamweaver

Prior to enrolling in TSTM 702, I had no experience with Dreamweaver. I have used FrontPage in the past when working with web pages and web design. The FrongPage course was taken six years ago, and I remember very few concepts that were taught in the course. Therefore, I look forward to using Dreamweaver. During my personal search and my networking through my Delicious account, I have found several sites that offer step-by-step instructions for web design using Dreamweaver. Furthermore, I have found several sites that offer tutorials for using and teaching Dreamweaver. I look forward to using this program in developing a web page for my own business.

FIREWORKS

Tools Panel
Bitmap: Bitmaps are graphics composed of pixels, which combine to create an image. You can create bitmap images by drawing and painting with bitmap tools, by converting vector objects to bitmap images, or by opening or importing images. Bitmap images cannot be converted to vector objects.
Vector: Vector objects are computer objects whose shapes are defined by points that are plotted along a path. The stroke color follows the path, and its fill occupies the area inside of the path. This determines how the object looks when published on the web. Vector objects include basic shapes, auto shapes, and free-form shapes.
Text Tool: The tool allows you add, format, and position text.
Line Tool: This tool allows you to add lines to the document.
Eraser Tool: This tool allows you to erase a portion of the picture.

Effects in the Filter Area (Property Inspector)

Bold: This effect is used to add to the text that is in the document. You can choose to bold text to place emphasis on the text within the document.
Alignment: This effect is used to position text within the text box. Text can either be aligned along the left margin, right margin, or in the center.
Font Size: This effect allows further emphasis to be placed on the font through enlarging or minimizing the font size of text in the document.
Blend Mode: This effect can be adjusted to further enhance the font. A user may choose to use hard light, fuzzy light, etc...
Font Family: The font family may be used to adjust the font of the text. A user may use times new roman, brush script, etc...

Tutorials
I would like to work more with bitmaps with respect to creating, editing, retouching, and adjusting bitmaps.

Blogs pertaining to Business Education

During my search for blogs that pertain to the business education, I located the following blogs:
1. Good Use of Technology is Good. (http://ceotutor.blgospot)
This blog was very conversational, and it provided useful information. The overall set-up was user-friendly.

2. Teach Your Child About Business (http://lifehacker.com/337121/teach-your-child-about-business)
This blog contained useful information because I never thought about introducing children to business education at such an early age. The information was useful, and it included a list of 14 games that could be used to teach children about business education. The only dislike was that there were too many advertisements on the page, and it distracted from the overall blog.

3. Is Early Childhood Education Technology Moving Backwards?
This blog was simple and easy to follow. It also provided links for early childhood education. I was pleased with the overall site.

4. The Evolution of Technology in Schools (http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/10/04/the-evolution-of-technology-in-schools/)
This blog referenced many social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace which are popular among students today. It provided graphics which also aided in the overall message. I liked this blog set-up and the information that was shared.

5. Ohio Study Provides Snapshot of State of High School Finance
(http://consumerist.com/2007/12/Ohio-Study-Provides-Snapshot-of-State-of-High-School-Finance-Education.htm.)
This was my favorite blog overall because it contained several quotes from the teacher, and it included real life projects for the students. It actually gave me ideas for my own business classes.
